Hal D. White

Ernst and Young Fellow & Assistant Professor of Accounting
University of Michigan's Ross School of Business


Hal's research focuses on managerial communications with investors, which includes assessing the quality of financial reports, managerial signaling, corporate governance and disclosure. He also examines the impact of recent innovations in information technology on firm communications. Hal worked in Birmingham, Alabama in public accounting as an auditor, first with Deloitte & Touche LLP, then with Pearce, Beville, Leesburg and Moore LLP. He left public accounting to earn his MBA from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 2002 and his PhD from Penn State University in 2007. Hal is a Certified Public Accountant.
